Was there not a white holder you posted not too far in the past? I cannot find the post but its design was one of the key reasons it was loved if I recall the discussion about it.
Well, if Ulfe says he is swearing by it, it is either time to sign up Zenmarket, or launch a cry for help from someone with an open proxy…
@DarkwingDuck the post you are looking for could be this one.
I wish it were, but that is also a nice post
Now that you made me think about it… I used to have a white rOtring PS-2 2.00mm holder, bought off of Andrey a looong time ago; but it had an almost-triangular grip area, which I could not get used to, so… away it went!
I miss Andrey’s shop. There were reasonably priced finds!
I completely agree, I miss it too. It was not only a great inspiration to me.
Andrey’s shop was full of rare oddities, and back in the day it was one of the few places where one could hope to get very specific pieces from the Asian market, or weirdly rare specimens from the European area. Not exactly a cheap place, but the quality was generally quite high, and he frequently clarified defects or issues with what he was selling. Very reliable.
I still remember his listing for a Tekagraph 9604 “Rund” (sold in matters of hours) for 500$, and his listing for a Pilot Automac E500 for the whopping figure of 1000$, which of course at the time looked like an otherworldly figure to me — and maybe to everyone else I knew was collecting pencils back then.
I still hope he comes back one of these days, resurfacing on Ebay or on other platforms with an even greater display of eccentric pieces (I am not interested in Zippo lighters or Swiss-army knives, but he had quite a display of those as well).
He tried it on his own website right away after the war on UA began… There were a few cheaper pencils/leadholders on offer, but I think overall it didn’t work out for him…

He was also here:
Nice extender! From what pencil length is it usable?
Any other tips - other brands etc?
It’s too bad we “lost” him. He and I had many very pleasant and informative exchanges over several years…His stuff was always first rate and well presented. He and leadholder.com ( Dennis) were two of the mainstays of my early dive into this insanity…
any updates appreciated
Staedtler really hit a home run with the 925 35 2mm. Such a wonderful design, weight, and feel. I just wish the black and color anodized knurled grip wasn’t so prone to wear. But then, some say it’s a sign of pleasing wabi-sabi.
My current LION collection. A big thanks to @drifand for filling in the 0.5 mm.
I have to say, I was a little astonished that the 0.3 and 0.5 mm sizes actually have different barrel lengths… and in reverse expectations (one would think the 0.3 mm would be shorter!).
As @Mecha had discovered, it isn’t the lead size that makes a different length, there’s literally two separate length models. See my Lion post and you’ll see the length doesn’t change. Quite a fascinating discovery if you ask me.
Oh wow
I wonder the reasoning!?!
Bizarre. Same model numbers? 34xx series?
I wonder if the 31xx and 32xx series show these size variations. And, if they were random, or some happenstance of production releases.
Do you also have some with “LION” missing from the clip? Just blank?
Yes, they are all 34X0. As you can see in the picture, one of them has a blank clip.
I’m just super glad I got my 3-piece 34x0 set all at one go
Really crazy to see such variance in production!!
