Post 2011 Kerry’s with “5” on barrel

I saw one show up as part of a bundle, but was Xed out. Someone probably posted the bundle, then someone contacted them about buying that pencil.

I have a proxy open, and this is the primary reason I am waiting to close it.

Hello, the P1035-A (1971), until what year was it produced?

Saw these earlier

I am not sure if Pentel has switched it back to the original 5, or if it (Since 1971) is still being produced. I have not checked recently.

AFAIK, the P1035A is still being produced.

Just checked the Pentel Japan website, and it looks like they are still making the Since 1971 version.

Been meaning to ask
What is CIL?

I always see that associated with the Kerry

Is there a slight random rippling in the plastic luster of the barrel? I have the white one and see some of that going on. It’s inside the plastic itself, so it’s not a surface aberration.

No but it’s got sparkles

Rephrasing the question: do you know what year Kerry changed the metal cone for plastic?

As far as I know they are still Metal cones

Still brass.

Oh yes, it’s metal. I must be an idiot or something. But, was a different material used for the first editions, perhaps steel? I’m sure I’ve read some of this, well, I apologize for interrupting the thread to ask such a stupid question.

No need to apologize.

Thanks. I was torn between getting either the black or the white. Since I have the Tokyu Hands edition (similar theme, with black center… just absent a black coating on the clip), I went with the white. I almost bought the black/silver version, but then I waited too long and missed the ¥ 8800 pricing.

Oh I can help you on this one. In Japanese, fountain pen is said “man’nen hitsu” (万年筆). Man’nen means ten thousand years, hitsu means brush/pen. Pentel made a wordplay for their kerry calling it a 万年CIL “man’nen cil” since it has the elegance and shape of a fountain pen, but it’s a pen-CIL.
