Thank you! This piece is only one I have in this (yellow) color
. Nice specimen.
Oh, I have one of those flexible ones around somewhere. Need to find it.
Hadn’t gotten anything new for a while so I went on a comfort buy. Really enjoying the Zebra as my daily driver at work. The Dr. Grip just showed up and I’m surprised I like it as much as I do, since I tend to prefer thinner and heavier pencils.
The g-spec is one of my favorite daily drivers because the grip is comfortable but just firm enough for long writing sessions. Sometimes with the alpha gel, it feels like I am trying to hold onto the shaft rather than the grip.
Nice drafting board. Haven’t seen that model before.
I picked this Staedtler set a few years ago, after my original Rotring got gummed up from those dumb rubber leg bumpers melting while in the case on a hot day…what a mess! ![]()
Ohhh that’s nice!
Thank you…works pretty well.
Found some interesting knock-offs at an old stationery store today. Do you see the resemblance? The quality is significantly worse - plastic clutch, rough actuation, plastic retractable lead sleeve - among other quality issues. A fun oddity nonetheless.
Need to pick up one of those double knock Pilots. Any chance you know the model #?
Ditto that. Would love to see a picture of the front of them. They appear to be mechanical pencils with sliding sleeves rather than double knocks.
Correct, the Pilot is a sliding sleeve. Pilot literally named it “Young Pipeslide”. I posted information on this exact MP here:
I really like mine but I worry about using them too much as the plastic clutches would wear out.
I wouldn’t stress about that so much, the Alpha Matic has a plastic clutch, they hold up just fine.
My fanciest Zebra have plastic clutches and they’re all still working great.
The plastic seems to very be very rugged though, so I’m not worried. Still, I hope to find some of the 1st gen with a brass clutch and additional vertical grooves.
