What's on your desk right now?

The best thing about the MEISTER limiteds? There are NO lead size markings on the body or buttons, so swapping the guts and tips does not cause any anguish!

My Coach and Brown also doesn’t have any sort of lead size indicator! Awesome!

So - a very welcome new addition to my happy little band of pencils - a pristine Staedtler 925 35 Limited Edition Orange Red 2024 Korean Exclusive (925-35-05NW)

What I was most surprised by is the grip (having never held one before) - I don’t think I’ve experienced anything so… grippy in my life. Which poses the question in my mind… Is there an MP with a grip so extreme it becomes uncomfortable to use? (as - I’ll admit - this pencil’s knurling is going to take some getting used to!)

The Alvin Draft/Matic comes to my mind – at least the old one had a very aggressive knurling.

Oooh yes - that looks pretty…industrial:hushed_face:

If you can’t find the cheese grater, the Draft/Matic will do just fine.

Have you held the old draftmatic?
imho the draftmatic isn’t as uncomfortable as the Staedtler.
I have one 0.9 Staedtler and I bought an all black pencil holder on a whim and I HATE them both.

I think the difference is that though the draftmatic looks more knarly, the knurling is not as fine and because of that it’s more comfortable.

I like plastic grips

Yes, I’ve held the Draft/Matic (I have one because it’s yellow ) and found it less pleasant than the Staedtler 925.

They definitely have their advantages!

I love how different everyone is in their likes and dislikes
Preferences sure are in the hand of the beholder

It goes to show how slippery advice on pen choices can be.

I purchased this partly because of the 925’s stellar reputation for reliability and quality, partly because I love the color, and partly because I’m so very left-handed - and, due to my writing / sketching style, require a tip-heavy pencil with a greater then average grip. This seemed to fit the bill.

I see what you did there…

And there’s more to it than that. My preferences are not fixed; some days I like wider, knurled grips, other days I prefer thin plastic ones.

Definitely

Shouldn’t that be “in the hands of the holder”?

I’ve always found the Spoke Model 4 knurling to be spectacularly harsh! It doesn’t look like much in this photo but it may be the sole reason for my writers bump.
