What's on your desk right now?

No price. @DarkwingDuck and I made a trade of multiple pencils. Fortunately we were able to each walk away happy.

Oh damn, I saw that trade post. Figured there was no way in hell he was letting THAT piece go

For the right piece I’d literally trade almost anything
I’m open to any trade, I probably have 5 items out of 800 or so that I consider VERY difficult to replace but other than that….. I’m open

Is this the beginning of a series of drifand-style pairings, only with real vehicles?

At the moment it is just a one-off post. However
I have a special connection to vehicle because I was part of the product design team who worked on this 2025 model.

Nice! Very cool to learn that you were on the design team for that Yamaha YZF R3! What was your role?

And, I see you also picked up one of those curious vintage boxed Newman pencils that have been for sale on YAJ (I think just ¥1200). The clear center piece is a deception–I thought it would give a subtle indication of the lead reservoir contents. But overall, it’s nicely done pencil for the price.

(I think) The clear center piece is to show a red ‘float’ that only shows when the last piece of lead is ‘gone’. Same function that Pilot packed into the Dr Grip ACE.

Hey, I was involved in the overall styling process from the project kickoff. So basically it was a team of 3 people excluding me others were Japanese colleagues.

On the topic of The Newman, it is nice because the internals are all metal. But the outer body I am not fully convinced about. Plus this one was cheap because it had a company name printed on the side.

Actually, the part where the plastic piece fits over is opaque black plastic. There’s no visibility into the lead chamber from the outside when fully assembled, unlike how it’s done with Sailor and the Pentel Injecto.
^^
FALSE. Sorry, I bungled my memory with something else. That IS an active lead indicator level. I think what bugged me about it was that you couldn’t really see the lead all that well. And what do you know–it’s unnecessary. That red stump will eventually make its way down and can be seen in the translucent window.

Nice piece, exactly what I need :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Nice stuff, where you get these ones? I am a big fan of these models and similar ones (M5-30, M5-50…), but I do not have almost all ones instead of 0.5 mm… and I have never seen that anywhere…

Those look really nice! I think I’ve seen someone post a ciselé version of that Newman. I’m a real sucker for that pattern, especially if the grooves are deep like a Parker 75.

The last picture is really stunning photography.

Yep… ugh, you’re right. I’m mixing up my memory with something else.
I posted about this pencil, HERE

Ah… the “zigzag” etched executives. I love those. A bit diminutive in size… maybe they were targeted for the ladies, the way PILOT did with the “L” series? But I really don’t get a gender vibe from these (unlike Platinum and Pilot with their little flower adornments on some models).

(the muted “silver” zigzag etched model is the same size as the black one–the perspective here just makes it look smaller)

I did manage to get the silver variant of the top one. I’m remiss… long overdue for a complete Newman collection shot.
