What's on your desk right now?

I will probably be able to let a few of 'm go once I’m done sorting through the entire collection

Have some nice pictures to share over the coming days.

Can anyone tell me how to properly date these?

Check out my blog post: P200, the Second Generation… and the third…and the fourth… and so on – Nimrodd's Blog

Also, if they are newer P200, twist the clip until the opening is lined up with the text, and you should see a light stamp or printed code, probably a number and a letter (ex. 6L) with the number being the last digit of the year it was made and the letter being the month (A-L corresponding to January to December). I don’t have that up on my blog, but in the Pentel Pencil ID Book, there is a short article in the back on Pentel Date Codes.

Really great stuff, thank you!

Intermezzo: can anyone broadly date that parker?
Scheaffer are 50s and 70s I think.

Maybe it’s not a Parker. The arrow clip has been copied before. Does it say ‘Parker Pen’ on the body?

Could be. No distinguishable markings. The clip does have the feathers you typically see on a Parker

Does the 3/5/7 distribution match the lead size ?

Still does not match any of the clip styles on the very comprehensive Parker Pens Penography site. FWIW, I ran this thru ChatGPT and it suggests:

This is almost certainly a Parker-style imitation mechanical pencil, possibly made by:

  • A second-tier American brand (e.g. Eagle, Autopoint, Empire, or unbranded dime-store pencils).
  • A Japanese OEM from the postwar export boom (especially if it says “Japan” faintly on the clip, which was common in 1960s exports).
  • A stationery promotional item designed to look “fancier” by borrowing the Parker arrow motif.

Look at that. The PSD5 to me, is superior to all pilot double knock that I’ve had the pleasure of holding. I have not held a 300X or 500X but dare I say, after my disappointment in the Young Gentleman, I have no desire to spend money on either is the best I can say.

(btw the YG I’m selling is AWESOME! :face_with_peeking_eye:)

Steadtler Micrograph 770.
Don’t know if there’s a way to date these.

I think I found what perplexes me the most in your picture, @svb-00 : let us face it, you only really need four of those PSD5’s. Three? Too few. Five? Too many. Four? Perfect number for a pencil named PSD5, don’t you think?

The plastic grip hs is the gem in my opinion

I’m not even trying to hide my lack of knowledge when it comes to mechanical pencils. Very thankful to have found Knockology though :heart_hands:

I think a lot of these deserve a new home, eventually. And I think trading might even be the way to go. So many great pieces to discover.
