Neat! I like the variety. Did that white angular tip protector strip come with the case, or was that found elsewhere?

The solid color enameled models (SP-20) have a crack prone issue. It’s not guaranteed, but it happens. Sometime late 2024 or early 2025, a seller dumped a HUGE series of lots for the OHTO piston pencils. SP-5, SP-10, SP-15, and SP-20. The lots were a mixed bag with varied percentages of faulty examples. The SP-5 has a clear plastic nose cone that is crack prone. The SP-15 doesn’t have cracking issues, thankfully, because the body is made from brushed stainless steel all the way through.

It has a bit of weight to it, but the knock feel is surprisingly light. The mechanism is really interesting.

Since it’s made of metal, I don’t think cracking will be an issue.

I picked this up in Japan. It was listed in excellent condition at a pretty good price, so I grabbed it right away.

Thats actually a ‘multi edge’ eraser from Kokuyo… it’s so that you’ll always have a sharp erasing edge somewhere on the block.

Ah, was that PayPal Flea Market on YAJ?

Wow, never saw an eraser like that before. Seriously cool design. Based on the curved triangular surfaces, I thought it looked like a useful thing for protecting mechanical pencil tips in a case. Is there a formal model number or name for them, and are they still made by KOKUYO?

Oh, you’re really good at finding these:wink:

I happen to have a soft spot for the Sprinter and was frustrated to have failed on getting a backup one prior to the more recent price spikes. Although the prices do tend to fluctuate. So, it’s on one of my searches. I don’t use Buyee, so I can’t buy on PayPal Flea Market. You paid a very decent price. That’s the same price I paid for mine like 7 years ago, when the exchange rate had the dollar terribly weak against the Japanese yen.

Just for reference, take a look at this regular black tear drop Sprinter that closed in 2023, without a sticker:

I can’t believe that one actually sold for that price. Did several Sprinters sell for around that price back then?

I’ve participated in quite a few auction listings, and I’ve seen sellers intentionally drive the price up, then relist the item when they failed to sell it at the inflated price.

I actually forgot the make and model… had to do a reverse image search!
It is actually a Sun-Star ZIGZAG Polygon Eraser — S4216741. Also comes in black.

Kokuyo does have a similar product of which you probably are aware, kadokeshi where kado means angle and keshi means erase

These are interesting erasers. Is there a reason for the odd shapes?

Besides marketing/aesthetics, I think it’s because they can always have a sharp edge/corner for erasing. Just get a stick eraser lol.

The Fisher Space Pen’s Telescoping Pen is a nice mini pen that transforms into a pen with a little larger of a pen body. I also love a Fisher Space Pen.

When telescopically extended a small pin behind the cone is pulled back to allow the cone to also come back under spring tension to reveal the pen tip. The refill does not move at all. In my case, the refill really will not move as it arrived secured very tightly. I cannot extract it by hand. Strange but that is a problem for future @Ethan_PT7 when the ink runs out.

Just a random set of writing instruments as I’m slowly going through an inventory review.

Sounds like the brass of the original refill might have oxidised and gotten stuck… In the past I’ve damaged some old pens by trying to force such refills out by brute force. Nowadays, I just leave them be as non functional ‘show pieces’.

Thank you for the tip. I would not have realized that. At least this is a pretty common piece. And at the rate I go through ink (very slow), it should not be an issue for a while.
