What TV program(s) are you watching?

I liked Prometheus. There are LOADS of problems with it… but, if you can look past them, it’s a decent movie with a number of moments to enjoy. You’re right, the concept art is very striking. The “director’s cut” was essential to make it right. I was so po’ed that they hadn’t included all of the Engineer clips in the original release.

What really annoyed me to no end was those two goofballs who got trapped in the structure. The snake thing appears and the guy with glasses is like “oh, aren’t you a cutie! come here, let me touch you” (paraphrased). What the hell? Especially after it did its cobra snake-like head flare, which should be instantly recognized as a fear-threat reaction. Also, David intentionally infecting Holloway was incredibly stupid. Despite his advanced AI brain, he couldn’t fathom all the ways things could go wrong. You infect one human and likely all of them would end up dead. Is that what Wayland wanted? No. The other thing… for Wayland to expect that the Engineers would be benevolent and civil, just because they’ve got advanced technology, is so terribly and dangerously presumptuous. What folly. “We made it here, in a spaceship of our own making to see our creators. That’ll make us special and welcome!” Um, no… how about more like a threat? And… Shaw getting pregnant with an alien? I mean, it’s one thing for a creature to gestate inside a human stomach–it’s not integrating with blood borne human bacteria. But to be merged with the host blood supply? T-cells would be going into overdrive enough to put Shaw in shock and then die. Even some human blood types are incompatible with each other, requiring medical procedures to correct so that the fetus will survive. So Prometheus falls apart a bit because of these painful oversights. But like I said, if you put that behind you, the movie has a lot of merit.
