As I’ve gone through this forum, I’ve heard the term W-Knock thrown around. To be frank, what is it, how does it work, and what are some models with this W-Knock?

I’d always thought that “W” was used as a double-V “VV”, where each “V” is a knock… hence, it means “double-knock.”
Did Pentel officially use the name “W-Knock” for some of their double-knock pencils? I’m curious, because Mitsubishi did use that name prominently, in fact embossed on various models.

The Pentel P1025 does have the letter W on it.
I think Jimmy’s book does mention the idea that in Japan they sometimes used “W” to represent double.

The way the letter ‘W’ is pronounced in Japanese (ie ‘double-u’) ends up with the ‘u’ greatly diminished. So the result is ‘W’ just sounds like ‘double’. And so it became a short form for ‘double’.
