We're all on Reddit here, right? How "serious" are you into Reddit? Do you pay for coins?

Are you saying that previous non-NSFW subs are now vulgar? Is that a new form of protesting?

Yeah. r/interestingasfuck is now pretty much porn now from what I can tell.

Having earned my livelihood by developing web software and specifically APIs for a significant period, I’ve been attempting to keep my position on the Reddit situation to myself. However, the lack of access to of all the content I’ve shared on the mechanicalpencils sub is starting to frustrate me.

At the very least, the moderators could participate actively here. But then again, we don’t even know who they are.

But you know what……

Knock On!

On rare occasion I’d get a follower with a suspicious name, and with a dubious profile that mentions “OnlyFans.” I’d block them.

Every week about a dozen of these accounts end up appearing in my notifications that they’ve followed me, but Reddit is now zapping them before I get around to blocking. I wonder if there’s a coordinated attack on Reddit going on.

Yes, who is moderator there? LussoBerlinetta, …

Yeah, that sub used to have some pretty crazy eye popping things, sometimes with a NSFW bend… never anything overtly pornographic. I just checked it and yeah… seems like every topic has a NSFW flair!

Reddit started to threaten mods with bans and forced restoration of the closed subs, so many major subs just decided to completely ruin their new content with absurd rules. r/wellthatsucks is now about vacuum cleaners. r/aww now has just photos of a comedian holding cats.

To be honest, I think this is the right move. Reddit has been greedy and they deserve their business being blown to smithereens until they start caring about their users. The CEO praising Elon Musk’s management of twitter is ridiculous. These new gen tech bros are delusional.

As long as the information is archived somewhere, I would rather have the forum ecosystem back. Letting Reddit have the monopoly of online discussion was a big mistake.

There’s also Quora, but the interface is very odd… I don’t like it. And very old content easily gets mixed in with newer content.

I just joined because I’m very irritated with the moderators of r/mechanicalpencils.

locking out thousands of users as a means of expressing their social/economic/political views, is the type of thing i expect from petulant children, not people old enough to be a moderator.

I personally feel a lot of the subs should be forced open again, as what the majority of the users want is what’s relevant, not what the moderators want.

I mean, I understand your points…

But this kind of crap—specifically, the behavior of the mods, which I see as their absurdly naive attempt to “speak truth to power”—is the most Reddit thing ever.

Based on the general vibe of Reddit and its users, this is precisely the outcome I expect most.
