Staedtler 925-85

Just picked this up. Not sure if it is a super good deal, but last time I saw one for sale it was closer to $85. It says there are still some left on Amazon US.

Check the seller. I’m seeing it’s a small seller in Japan. Condition is not stated. If it’s in excellent condition then that’s a very decent price considering that shipping is included.

Yeah, small seller Rivtia from Japan, mostly sells Rotring. Condition concerns me as well, but for $50 shipped I took the gamble. If it is trash I will request a refund from Amazon. I found it slightly strange that it was guaranteed prime 2-day and shipped by amazon. Most items I get from Japan on Amazon take around two weeks. I ordered a pure malt about a month ago and it still isn’t here. The regulator is supposed to be here Wednesday which leads me to believe that it is in the US already. I will let you know if it was a flop.

Without packaging they usually sell for 4000 JPY, unopened in blister for 6000 JPY. 50 USD is a premium, but considering the free returns and fast shipping I think it’s not a bad price. I’ve seen amazon put some nasty 200% premiums in even basic Japanese models.

Can you update us once you get your hands on it? I’d be interested in getting one if its legit.

That’s a great price.

I looked and it’s over $100 on Amazon today

Yeah, when I looked at that $50 925-85 listing, I’d noticed only one other listing for the 925-85 at $105, sold by “Muse & Co,” who has a 69% rating. Nasty.

I can see a bunch of the .7 for around 100-125, but I don’t see another .5 on there. They still haven’t processed shipment despite still claiming to be here Wednesday, so we shall see.

YAJ and Mercari have great deals for all sizes btw in case you ever want another.

Yeah, I need to just figure all that out soon.

There’s also a 925-95… which is more sought after. Although, lately, prices have come down from where they used to be, perhaps because stock isn’t as rare as people believed earlier.

I haven’t seen much 925 95, the last ones I saw were in the 25000 yen range. Regarding the design, some prefer the 85 while others prefer the 95. In terms of functionality, both are the same. A curiosity I have about the 95 is whether it has the same rattling as the 85. I always thought the 95’s prices were higher due to not having this rattling, but I remember reading a post on /r/mechanicalpencils by someone saying that it also rattles.

You’ve made a great purchase, TheLaw1989. The design of the pencil is beautiful and the grip is wonderful (it feels smooth in the hand).

I need a 55 and a 95 to finish off my 925 collection. But I’ve yet to look into a proxy service. At eBay’s mercy for the moment

Recently I’ve seen 95 for ~80-100 USD range which is what was normal price before 2020. In 2021 and 2022 there were insane hikes.

I hope he is joking because if he isn’t it means I need to update the ID again :smiling_face_with_tear:

Also, on proxies the prices for 55 are pretty good and they are common, 95 is also kinda common but prices are a roulette. I’ve seen the 80-100 USD but also insane 250 USD listings.

Yep, it was a new model called Hexagonal, but with the code 77:
