Small pen stands to hold your 'currently using' pencils

I’m in the market for something to hold my pencils that are currently in use (I loathe having pens scattered everywhere - especially flat on my desk surface).

I’m not looking for a stand that holds hundreds of units - maybe just 10 or 20. I found these pencil / makeup caddies at Teso a while back (see image) - but I’m looking for something that holds them upright making selection in use easier. I would welcome suggestions.

I made this pencil tray with not a lot of trouble. I did use a table saw, but it could be done by hand.

It’s made from quarter round trim, cut to length and glued together. Next i flocked it hunter green and finished with an oak trim around the outside.

I use it a lot more than I thought.
Initially intended as a prop for my videos, but to be honest, I use it every day with whatever writing instrument I may be using at home at that time. So it usually has a nice variety of stuff on it. So far the flocking has held up well after daily use.

So - I found this online - it’s for makeup brushes and the like - but I think it’ll do until I find something more permanent (and it cost $4!)

Etsy is a good place for this custom stuff too

I have a beard and I tell anyone…
Why try the products that they’re making for beards when women have been perfecting hair products for way longer? Just get the unscented and you’re almost guaranteed to find a better product!
Same concept, they made make up brush trays and paint brush trays before pencils maybe, or if not they are more prevalent… you can’t go wrong searching those and seeing what they offer for them!

You can buy more of these from a dollar store and glue them to make a bigger one!

Or Amazon has some nice ones that you can buy unassembled, but it is relatively fragile!

Thanks I have a few of those (see initial photo) but I want something that will hold the pens upright so that I can pick a pen while I’m working and see them all so I can pick the right one. Great advice though. Thank you.

unconventional answer: I use these miniature beer crates (?) on my desk

So - I just got my $4 acrylic stand - and it’s going to fill a gap until I find something else - but I have to say - it’s pretty good (the smaller holes are just too small for a GG 300 but fit a GG 500 if that’s any guide and the bigger holes fit anything I have).
