I always had a softspot for Micro Korea since my first MP in primary school which was a very basic, plastic Micro Business followed by a similar Goldline. Later in high school I got an executive Radix.
In the small lineup above the Jaguar is the obvious star. The Arcano (steel body with red and green pattern paint) is also good looking and pleasant to use, detracted only by the cheap plastic cap.
However the biggest surprise is the Hawk. Only the small grooved grip is plastic, everything else is metal, including the lead reservoir.
The product code which is most of the time printed on the barrel provides info on the barrel material: MSP is plastic, MSA aluminium, MSS stainless steel.
Micro was the best Korean stationery company, in my opinion. It’s such a shame they went out of business.
I feel like Micro made more pencil models for overseas markets than for Korea itself. Most of the ones you have are models I’ve never even seen in Korea. That’s seriously impressive!
Everything posted above was sourced in Romania, Poland and Hungary. Looks like the same design philosophy at Daewoo: different designs for different markets, some straight copies of other companies designs (Racer, Cielo, Nexia), some very nice ones comissioned to consacrated designer houses (Espero).
Would be nice to know which of the models above were also found in the Korean domestic market.
The mechanical pencil on the far right of the first photo (is it a Radix?) was a relatively common model, but virtually no information about the others remains in Korea. Although Micro had overseas branches, it is uncertain whether they produced separate models specifically for export edition.
