The misdirection is working. I can only imagine how fiercely you will all jump to my throat when the solution will be revealed, but so far you are not there yet.
Glad to see so many names and so many proposals; so far, you may all be right, but no one got it perfectly, which means that the chase continues.
Hex-O-Matic? Not according to the information I have — the pencil came in its own box, with the name of the company supposedly distributing (and branding) the item.
rOtring 600? Well, this would have meant quite an amount of misdirection… No, not a rOtring 600, nor a 500, nor one of those intermediate models like 505, 400 etc. It is for sure a relative of that lineup, but no reference to the German manufacturer.
Also, the original box does not mention China in any way, shape or form, so no Redcircle, nor Nicpro.
I assume that the boundary of possible candidates is shrinking by the minute. In a sense, as I said, you are all right — you do know what the heck this pencil is — but the correct answer is still floating somewhere.
If no one gets it by the end of Friday 18th, I shall post the solution. Bonus/partial points to the first one framing the country this specimen comes from (at least according to the label on the box).
Yes, indeed! The pencil is Korean. And the model is from the Micro company. @DarkwingDuck nailed it!
As far as I remember — but I don’t have the pencil with me to confirm — the model is called:
M.I.T. 3000 by “Micro of Illuminant Technology” (or “Technologies”)
Basically, a rOtring variant, but with some quirks: the barrel is coated with some rubberised layer, the knurling is a bit smoother, the feeling is a bit different. Pictures of the box and accessories (two lead containers) will be available soon.
