Trying to find out a bit more about these Bruynzeel models.
Bruynzeel was founded in 1897 as Stoomtimmerfabriek in Rotterdam, by Cornelis Bruynzeel Sr. Its origin included the production of wooden floorboards, wood shaving products, and school desks. In 1948 the company received a request from the Dutch government to supply pencils, which evolved into the production of other writing, hobby, and office supplies. In 2016 the brand became part of Royal Talens.
From left to right:
Bruynzeel Graphic 9414 2mm
Bruynzeel Cassette 9412 0.5mm - Japan (9)
Bruynzeel ‘unknown’ 0.5mm
I’ve also sorted through a lot of maybe 50 or so Bruynzeel Automatic 9410 0.5mm. Was able to identify two versions, the second one has a clear marking that it was made in Japan (11).
Then there are these Bruynzeel Micro 0.5mm models, with no discernible marking on the body.
Update 2025-07-23: so it turns out these Micro models went through a few alterations.
Here you can see their name and model nr. printed as ‘Grafix Micro 9402’.
The main differences as far as I can tell are in the cone, and these coming with a knurled grip.
Some of these knurled grip versions came without the text imprint, which might indicate a transition version.
Additionally, I found these Bruynzeel Cassette 9411, 0.5mm, which are the cheaper plastic companions to the Cassette 9412 shown in the first picture.
They seem to be almost identical to the Staedtler Cassette 779 15
And were also made in Japan, I assume sometime in the late 80s.
