Zebra will be releasing a high-end model of the Tect 2Way called the Tect 2Way RO in September.
It features an integrated lower barrel with a knurled grip, so it’s stable to write with and prevents your hand from slipping. It’s a drafting-style mechanical pencil with a shaker mechanism.
Looks interesting, I’m definitely more inclined to get this one compared to the default Tect 2Way, the look of which never jived with me.
Wow, this is great news!
Cool new direction and a big surprise from Zebra. I will probably spring for this one.
The dark colors and profile kindof reminds me of the newest round of metal grip Orenz.
The visual reminds of the Drafix 1000.
I’ll probably buy it but I’m apprehensive because honestly I wasn’t happy with the metal kurutoga or orenz. I bought those feeling excited, this one will have to be pretty disappointing to let me down!
I liked the 2way and 2way light. I can’t tell from the image - does this have the rings on the grip? (please say no)
PS what’s the “RO” for?
‘RO’ probably means ‘ROulette’ – the Japanese term for knurling.
Tect 2way RO… quick reaction:
-
Knurled grip is welcome change but I hope the 3 (seemingly) empty grooves won’t feel too sharp like how OHTO does things. When was the last time Zebra made a knurled pencil? The M701?
-
The shaker lock ring is FINALLY in the same color as the body.
-
The colors are quite conservative. I hope they look good in person!
-
Only 0.5mm… this is the inevitable reality according to sales data.
The tect2way light made sense. Now they are making* a heavier tect2way??
Seems like they are simply following other manufacturers successful model designs, without realizing why this pencil didn’t perform/sell well. Plus, shaker…? Why? I’ve never been a fan of this “feature”. Most need three shakes to activate, and you look ridiculous doing so.
Is the only new “selling* point it having metal knurling and black? It must weight over 30gs.
Finally! Really looking forward to this and the black 925 85
Just imagine a black 925 95…
That would be nice but if they remake the 925 95 silver again, I am going to be mad, because it will devalue the original hope that doesnt happen.
I have a feeling that they won’t… probably for the same reason why they discontinued it and replaced it with the 925-85. I had the misunderstanding at first that the “95” was an “elite” sibling to the “85”… only to find out later from knowledgeable folks in our community that the 95 was first and then replaced by the 85.
