Weekend Lineup No. 15 / 2026
Went on a little field trip today to a nearby city and managed to find these. Had never seen this transparent Tombow Olno before, so had to grab that. The rest are a collection of discontinued Korean mechanical pencils. I was especially excited to find the Rotring 300 knockoff, but I’ve only just noticed that it is 0.7 and not 0.5. For reference, it’s a Micro marVel 2000.
I like the pattern on the third from the right. Very cool!
I’m not sure about either of those (not ruling it out though). I have another 2 that are identical. And then there is this one other reference for Staedtler using ‘Hi-Tec’ nomer: Riddle - What kind of pencils are these? [SOLVED] - #8 by majkycz_y
Apparently there is a silver ballpoint series: https://www.reddit.com/r/pens/comments/1qyq68q/talk_to_me_more_about_staedtler_425_25f9_silver/ but I don’t know when or where those were released. They take a standard G2 refill. But the one I posted above came with a different type of fill.
Edit: Looks like there were some more ‘limited’ ballpoint releases, like these:
I guess that would make the one I posted the ‘midnight blue’ variant.
There’s one for sale right now on vinted..
Okay. It was usable the first few days, but now the 0.5mm clutch has trouble properly holding the 0.4mm lead at times.
I’ll have to do the clutch mod.
I continue to find design analogues between Japan and Korea Pilot. Here are the lastest of them.
First is an H-1085 next to a collection of H-800s. The H-1085 is longer, has a different tip, grip, and knock cap and has a lead hardness indicator, but you can clearly see it influenced the design of the H-800s with the lead size printed in blue at the top of the barrel and general aesthetic.
Next are two Japan Pilot steel executive models next to a Korea Pilot H-5000. Aside from the tip and clips, they are almost all identical. There are some minor differences between the contours of the barrels as well.
I’ve been continually impressed with some of the Korea Pilot’s productions. It really ashame that they stopped production years ago now. Some of the best ones are so hard to come by though. I will continue my search and try to share more interesting finds in the future.
I love that you’re finding these!!!
Korean Pilots are like a totally valid side quest that can spin off into its own thing. Congrats!
There are some truly compelling designs out there… it just seems impossible to find them.
DOTS & DASHES COMBO ![]()
• Luddite THIS INDUSTRIAL Etching Ruler
• KAYOU+ Aim Vision Pro 0.5mm
• TITANER Ti-Chi Click Pen
You need to add some CDT to this set.
Aye for the patterns! but… maybe only the black Sharbo will meet the challenge? The pattern is a bit subtle though ![]()
This week, we have a Böker Plus Cal .45 bolt action pen in titanium. I have had this since before I started collecting pens. I love the design but hate the Lamy M 22 insert. I really wish there was a good alternative.
Red and blue Sharbos are tremendous!
Like Pokemon- I’m trying to get them all
Have you seen this?

Hadn’t seen it and I was glad to see it was from 2020 because I can rest assured that this is a human design progression and not AI:
I’d buy that for the original price of the Aimvision pro
