What's on your desk right now?

When I choose a multipen to put into rotation, I will try to pick a pencil in something other than 0.5mm so that I have more options at work. The other way is to fit my Sharbo with a 0.7mm component as I feel it usually fits better with the wider bodies on Sharbo models.

I have finally bought something from my wishlist. The pilot shaker h-515.

Dang those wish lists. Always hanging around and forcing us to buy stuff we didn’t plan to.

Beautiful Uchida!

Whoa! Nice scores. That Uchida Drawing Sharp KN is very hard to find these days! Also, the H-515 in burgundy / red is quite rare (black is most common). I sure wish I’d gotten into these before the collector surge. Every once in a while there’s a good deal out there. Still, crazy to think this pencil was originally less than $3 USD stickered, some placed discounted to $2 USD.

I cant begin to explain how much I have wanted this shaker model since I got into collecting. I also can not believe I paid as much as a hi-uni for this mp. But still very happy about it.

I am digging the red Uchida, and will be adding few more colors to the collection. The only thing is its harder to find these in good shape, this one for instance has some blemishes.

I hear you. Sometimes it’s best not to know original prices! It has handicapped me, in that I’d hesitate with bidding. And then… a few years later… the used market prices are even higher.

What is also frustrating is that there are always bound to be collectors looking for the very model of interest that you are… and some are solely focused, putting all of their attention on it. Which means when a relatively low priced listing comes up on Mercari? Gone in minutes or hours. One can’t compete with that, especially when having a Mercari JP account isn’t possible. I wonder if those who have accounts can set up email alerts, like the way eBay provides.

Well, in all likelihood prices won’t be coming down for that model. Prices have come down for some others, I suspect partly due to the economic hardships in play. A PILOT H-3003 in used but very decent condition just sold for ¥15,500… which seems like a new recent low.

I was able to pick up the gold and green Drawing Sharp E models, but missed the blue one… and now it’s really hard to find in good condition (some used examples recently sold for semi-OK prices). The KN in silver is pretty common… but red and blue are very hard to find.
