Yeah I was wondering why yours had grooves on both. That makes sense, the vanilla Kitera grip feels kinda awful ![]()
The condition is a bit disappointing, but I’m still happy with it.![]()
Another package from DarkwingDuck arrived today. I crossed some stuff off the top of my list as well as getting some items I didn’t know I wanted.
Mitsubishi M5-100: Finally getting to try a Mitsubishi double knock and it doesn’t disappoint. All metal body and the double knock is perfect imo. Awesome piece. It will go in my edc case to be carried with my etched Jaguar ballpoints.
Mitsubishi M5-50: A pencil I’ve adored for a long time. I don’t even know what to say about it, if you like it you like it. Now my TK9555 has its partner.
Mitsubishi M9-303: A black 0.9 Mitsubishi… yes please.
Mitsubishi M5-35 (black, blue, red): The pencils I didn’t know I wanted. Allen brought them up when I said I was looking for an M5-50. I tried to walk away, but after sleeping on it I had to have them. They hit that Pentel Eleven/Graph aesthetic that I love. I especially like the faceted tapered end. Now I need to find the green one ![]()
Rotring 500: Finally got a 0.5 for a good price and it’s in perfect condition. Vintage 500’s were one of the pencils that got me into collecting, so it’s nice getting a grey one in a size I will actually use. Still looking for the 0.5 in burgandy to complete my 0.5 set.
A.W. Faber Castell 9502: Another pencil that hits that Eleven/Graph vibe. I like that this one has the lead size in millimeters and inches. Unfortunately too thin for me to use comfortably. Still an awesome pencil, no regrets adding it to the collection.
Overall I am super happy with all the pencils and Allen’s help getting them. And thanks to the whole community for all the knowledge ![]()
This week, I realized that my Parker Jotter with a perpetual calendar cannot handle a month that touches six calendar weeks. But I still love me a Jotter! ![]()
In the USA, Parker was once a major leader in writing instruments, particularly fountain pens. The Parker 51 is their most iconic legendary offering. The Jotter is so ubiquitous, I really considered it so far from being a collectible. But there are some older models that present curiosities like this perpetual calendar model.
One of my favorites is the Bond Street model:
Lava is such a great finish. Too bad they discontinued it!
The ‘first year’ Jotters from 1954 hold a special place in my heart. I love those ribbed nylon barrels and recently sought out a modern ‘made in France’ (horrors!) Jotter because it sported a similar styling on its metal body. Pix soon!
I appreciate that the basic design has not changed much over many years. I am not sure how old this particular one is as I bought it second hand at a pen show. I have one other from the same show. Pictures here. I also have a 70 years edition but do not have any pictures of it right now.
found this guy for one dollar. Man, the spring on this thing! It feels like a crossbow (in a good way!)
Color bros. Bought the Sea Blue Tikky this morning, and accidentally realised they share very similar colors with the 600s
- Tikky White + 600 Pearl White
- Tikky Dark Grey (or perhaps Navy) + 600 Dark Stone
- Tikky Sea Blue + 600 Ice Mint
What is this, double knock? Leadholder? 2mm propelling pencil?
It is a plain old leadholder
I think it is a 2.00mm clutch pencil.
Yes. It is.

Mitsubishi Hi-uni leadholder 4H
Mitsubishi Hi-uni leadholder HB
I start sketchs with hard lead and then move to HB. Finishing drawings happens less often so the soft leads don’t get much use.
This week’s rotation. Just received Luddite’s TechDraw 2 Custom Parts in black and used it to make my TD2 extra stealthy. I really like how the faceted design feels like it was standard issue with the F117 Nighthawk.
These look so good
