Fashion brands are a toss up when it comes to products that aren’t clothes per se. And for Emanuel Ungaro, established 1965, I can only point to his signature ‘U’ profile pen as a design standout of the 1980s.
I had seen several of these over the years but I noticed that many had blank finials where the distinctive ‘U’ logo plate had fallen off. So even when I decided that I wanted one in dark blue with gold trim for my collection, I had to be extra careful to check out the listing’s pictures.
It’s a simple and tasteful design and I was surprised to learn that it was made in Japan. Perfect! Now it feels even more ‘right’ when paired with my Pilot Quatro in similar color scheme.
