Twist-Erase Family (video)

Here is my latest video- it’s on the Twist-Erase. It traces the lineage from the QE305 all the way to the Twist-Erase I, II & III.
It was made with a huge amount of information from @erhunter71 Pete and most of the images are shots from his amazing collection. I also (as alway) need to thank Jimmy @nimrodd for all his efforts with documenting these pencils.

Hopefully there are no huge errors or omissions-

Thanks for sharing your collection and knowledge on the models, and helping me lay out the video.

‘Gomdale’ is pronounced ‘go-mu-dah-ray’
In general Japanese tends to separate the consonants, and 'L’s are treated as 'R’s.
Great job documenting the history and models!!

That must be why the Kerry is also called a Kelly!

From my understanding, the nickname Kelly came along first, being the Japanese pronunciation of “Carry”. Then in 2001, when Pentel did the revamp of the P1035, they named it “Kerry”.

Great video. Does the Cross Tech 4 qualify? It technically twists out when the mechanical pencil is selected by twisting
I bought the Mono a while ago and am surprised that so many with this eraser feature exist!

And of course, this means… the Tombow Keshiman has got to be featured someday soon. Its 1984 launch predates the Gomdale? Maybe a look at some of the original patents, probably by Koto.

My favorite twist erase is the chunky Paper Mate PhD Ultra. I’ve seen there are a few clones of the regular PhD out there too.

Thanks - I’ll start looking

I just bought a Keshiman from @DarkwingDuck so it’s definitely going to get a video at some point

Thanks Kelvin - it just wouldn’t be the same without me mispronouncing at least one word :squinting_face_with_tongue:
