I recently received a pencil that came loaded with leads plated in golden colour. The writing is grey, not obviously different from “regular” lead. Is this common? The pencil was a Colleen Jib double knock but of course there’s a good chance these were not the original leads that were sold with it.

Alot of their pencils have come with it inside of them that I have purchased.

Actually, Colleen kind of pioneered ‘gold leads’? They were marketed at female students because the coating wouldn’t dirty fair and delicate hands picking up those sticks of dusty graphite.

Sometimes the amount of knowledge in this forum is astonishing.
Does it mean I have to soak them in recovered machine oil before I can legitimately use them?
