Is anyone else a fan of the Gunsmith Cats manga and anime by Kenichi Sonoda? It’s like a fever dream of how a Japanese gun and car freak imagines America to be. Set in Chicago, the series features a female duo of bounty hunters who also run a gun shop, and their many run-ins with criminals (and the law). The main character is Rally Vincent, expert sharpshooter with all kinds of small arms, while her partner Minnie May is an explosives expert.
Sonoda saw fit to equip Rally with a sweet ride: a fully restored '67 Shelby Cobra GT500 in dark blue with white twin racing stripes. While the depiction of firearms is super detailed there are just as many feats of driving as there are of marksmanship in the series. The muscular roar of the Cobra’s V8 is just pure music on screen…
And to pair if off, I chose the Rapidomatic 5639… another legend that arose from Koh-I-Noor USA (as distinct from KIN Hardtmuth). That it was also dark blue with white accents, AND handling a beefy 0.9mm with precision just made it perfect by my reckoning.

I’ve never been this tempted to start collecting Matchbox cars. I’m officially a muscle car believer now!

This is a small part of my Matchbox collection. About half of the cars on the left were actually gifts from my 11-year-old son, which makes them even more special to me.![]()

I’ve been aware of gunsmith cats for a while but haven’t watched/read it. Definitely cool to see it mentioned on here though
