TOMBOW XPA telescoping pen

Interesting design. I don’t know how the telescoping feature works… if it’s a twist design or uses simple friction. Looks to be well made, though. There’s 2 color versions, AFAIK.

According to the TOMBOW Flight 100 site, the XPA was released in 2003. No idea for how long it was produced, though… And if that “gas-pressurized” refill is still available!

The XPA works like a Zebra SL-F1: you pull to extend the body and the cone will retract slightly while extending the writing tip. I wouldn’t think too much about the pressurized D1 refill. If it’s really needed to enable the XPA’s ‘outdoor use’ cress, I’d just buy a Fisher D1.

Ah, it’s just a D1! Good to know that. So yeah, no need to go overboard on a pricier pressurized one.

This one is quite hard to find - been looking for a while in fact. A few of them have hit US eBay for very high prices and in poor condition.

It’s the same pen as the tombow pixie or fisher telescope - you pull back the top to reveal the refill. There is a spring pushing the front cover in.
