TOMBOW Mono Delta line

Back in 2022, @drifand posted about a find… a TOMBOW advertisement showing the Mono Delta line (HERE). From here we got to see the actual model numbers:

SH-1500MD - steel body, fine lateral grooves for grip
SH-1000MD - aluminum body, screen printed grip (blue or red lettering on body)
SH-700MD - aluminum body, black plastic grip

AFAIK, the SH-1000MD has 2 variants. So there’s only 4 models (at least), of which we know.

Does anyone here know why they chose to call it “Delta”? Obviously this was later dropped and just “MONO” is used, with succeeding models.

Incidentally, does anyone have a larger resolution copy of that TOMBOW advertisement? It’s terribly small and low resolution in the one place I could find it.

What have we here?

A ¥2000 model!

Someone snagged this for a paltry ¥1000. Looks a good bit used, but the rarity… well worth 5x. My guess is that it’s actually the ¥1500 model, just printed with red lettering and price raised to ¥2000… just before it was discontinued. It doesn’t appear to have any other differences.

Do we know what years the Delta was available?

All vintage Tombow dates should be checked first on the Flight to 100 microsite.

Couldn’t find any mention of “Mono Delta” on the site. Even manually scrolled through.

OT…
One thing I did spot, which caught my eye, was a pair of scissors called “PROTEC.” Not far from “PILOT Protecs.”

My memory is playing tricks on me. Could’ve sworn it was on flight to 100…

Here’s where I found the tiny ad scan:

I looked but didn’t see it

Well, this did inspire someone to buy the MONO Delta listing on Mercari. I was going to pick it up, just for the heck of it. SOLD already. Learned a lesson – if considering something, don’t post about it in the open forum!
