The Staedtler REG 925-85 is getting a reissue

Hey everyone,
Did you know that the Staedtler REG 925-85 is being reissued? There’s even going to be a limited black edition.
It looks like the logo design has changed compared to the old model.
Anyone planning to pick one up?

Staedtler is on fire lately with their releases!

I’d love to get one, maybe even the black one, although we all know that black one is going to disappear in an instant.

That’s great news!

Does anybody know what years the original one was sold?

I think it was first released around January 2006.

Generally I am a big fan of Staedler. Initially I though this release was a fake news but turns out not!

So, do you know if this will widely available through all Japanese stationery stores like loft, hands etc?

The silver version is going to be a regular item, so while it might be hard to find right after the release, I think it will soon be available on Amazon, Loft, and other major retailers.
However, the limited black edition will likely be much harder to get—each store is getting a limited allocation, so it’s expected to be a fierce competition.

Thanks, I have several old release silver Regs so I am mainly interested in the black edition. Very much looking forward to picking this up!

Imagine if they do a 925-95 in all black body with end cap having the lead indication color! That will be amazing!

I am guessing if the launch price is around 4000 yen the mercari re-sellers will price 8000yen atleast! Its going to be hard to get it isn’t it?

If it’s 8,000 yen, that might actually be considered cheap.
My guess is it will go up to around 12,000 yen.
Since the release is planned for mid-June, it might be a good idea to keep an eye on stationery store websites around that time.

The 985 REG is a very nice pencil, I am happy it will be re-issued; I see it as a bit bulky and heavy for my taste, but I reckon it is a magnificent specimen checking basically all the boxes.

Unfortunately, I am afraid the price for the limited edition will go skyrocketing, and I would be much happier to pay some good money for a regular 925 95 reissue, as long as the building standards remain the same.

Let see whether Staedtler will listen to its limited but fierce fanbase: we do need a 925 95!

This was probably decided after they saw how well the MARS 770 reissue did, so who knows? They tried it and noticed there is a BIG market out there for reissuing our beloved discotninued pencils so maybe they will do it one day…

Also, on black being a limited run: the 925 35 in all black also started as a limited run… I doubt it’d be made standard though.

The Staedtler REG, originally scheduled for release in June, has had its launch dates pushed back: the 0.5mm version is now expected in late June, and the 0.3mm version in late July. As for the limited-edition black color, Staedtler has announced they are aiming for an October 2025 release.
Personally, I suspect that the flood of pre-orders might have prompted them to increase production volume.

Praying that rattle is solved :raising_hands: They can (e.g. Hexagonal), so if there’s rattle they just didn’t bother.

This is exciting news! Where is this announcement from? I couldn’t find it on the website of Staedtler Japan.

It hasn’t been officially announced yet, but I learned about it through an email from the manufacturer (via a stationery wholesaler).
I just reviewed the email again, and it turns out the 0.3mm version isn’t confirmed for a late July release — it’s still being adjusted for that timeframe. So there’s a possibility the release might be delayed further.

Thank you for this update, any suggestions to where this can be ordered upon launch?

The regular REG is expected to be released between June and July for the first batch, with a second batch planned around September to October 2025. Once the supply stabilizes, it should become easier to purchase.
As for the limited-edition black version, it’s still unclear how many units each shop will receive. But based on previous releases like the Hexagonal series, I personally expect that the limited colors might eventually be available in markets like Korea and Taiwan as well.

Has there been any updates to this? It is presently the end of June.

It was released today, but only the 0.5mm silver version is available for now.
