And that being… having no pencil at all?
I liked hearing that hint of a Cajun accent! (Reminds me I still have a few episodes of Swamp People to watch!) Is the one other thing you hate even more the Quicker Clicker with the grooved grip?
I can usually just pinch the button with my fingers to pull them out.
The transparent models crack easily if you’re not careful removing the tip or clip. Many of them are already cracked just from stress and age.
Yea, I wouldn’t advise taking them apart unless there’s nothing to lose. @Heath and I already did the risky exercise a few years ago of removing pocket clips on the Clic family members to get date stamps to form a timeline.
I think I did permanent nerve damage to the tip of my thumb from pushing those 355 clips off… it’s still a little numb in one spot!
Loving this thread. My favourite pencil, new information, humour - that dumb and dumber pic is gold.
I wonder whether a Lego brick separator would do that clip removal job.
Or your thumbnail, baw
Sorry, I meant the pocket clip.
I just give the clicker a squeeze and pull it out. Some come out easily, others… not so much.
Yup that’s what I meant
One of these days I’ll play around with pulling a 345 apart. I’ll try the fingernail thing just out of curiosity, just seems like the metal will rip my fingernails apart.
Get yourself a pair of wide tweezers. Wrap some masking tape around the tips in reverse so it’s sticking facing outward. That should aid a lot with getting a good grip. Also shove a guitar pic in the slot between the body and button to help with leverage.
So, I finally got a little chance to pull things apart on a vintage QC, although I haven’t been able to yank out the clutch yet. I’m not seeing anything inside the clip. My eyes aren’t what they used to be, but I’ve looked while outside in the sun, as well as shining a flashlight in it. Where exactly in the clip is the date code located?
It’s on the pencil body, underneath where the clip attaches. You’ll usually see a single hand drawn looking number (mold mark?) and then also a 2 character stamped date code.
Yes, but agreed, that one is really difficult to make out…
Once the components are removed, are the bodies for the PD335, PD345, and PD355 the same?
Yep
Thanks Heath!
