OK, short entry here as I don’t know all that much about Smokey and the Bandit, save for hazy memories of watching snippets of it on broadcast television in the 1990s, i.e. yearssss after it was a thing in cinemas everywhere!
What matters to me is that the movie is the first thing that comes to mind when I see ANY black Pontiac Firebird with the ‘flaming chicken’ emblazoned on its hood.
So when this Tomica Premium showed up at Toys ‘r’ Us (yes. they are still alive and well here in Singapore), I knew they’d be the perfect match for my BOXY ‘TansAm’ themed goodies.
I wonder if these were officially licensed goods or just a quick appropriation for BOXY’s fascination with pop Americana. Anyway… Honk if you love TransAm!
