Saying hi from the Orient

Hey good morning, good afternoon or goodnight! I’m BZLang from Mainland China.

Always wondering where’s an English community for mechanical pencils, and came across @Pdunc67 's awesome YouTube channel recently, which lead me here! I had a little sign up trouble and had had a very nice conversation with Patrick before showing up, and here I am!

In my high school days, I had some research with MPs and eventually bought a silver Pilot Automac (the modern one), got surprised by the craftsmanship and instantly fell in love with double-knock mechanism. That’s how I got into this amazing rabbit hole.

Recently daily driving orenznero or orenz AT, sometimes S20.

Seems like NA stationary market is quite different than us in East Asia, I’m very honored to be a part of the community and looking forward to contribute.

I said the following statements before, and I wanna share again:

It’s quite complicated the international affair in recent years, but after all, it’s not about American, Chinese or whatever nationality, us the normal citizens always not aggressive to others and wanted peace so we can have a chance to break the border and share our common interests.

Welcome BZLang!

There’s a few people from China on Knockology. @xiaozhenyang4444 is one, who is also part of a WeChat group of collectors from China. You might be interested in participating. But beware, many of them have incredibly impressive collections of vintage mechanical pencils that will be overwhelming.:wink::grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I’m too young for vintage collection lol, but yea I’m gradually starting my own, not following any trend

You’re never too young for vintage!:wink::grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

If you love the art of design, you’ll be extremely impressed with what was made in the past. If you’re just about modern tech, new models, then vintage would probably seem ridiculous (some sought after models can demand really serious money).

thanks @cytherian , I’m obsessed with Pilot Hi-Mechas and the price tag is pulling me away lol

Recently I’m tracking one specific Tikky Automatic LS which is brand-new with all metal internal, I don’t know if ~52 usd is a good deal…

and the same seller has another one with no package in ~$39

The Tikky Automatic is a great pencil and in my opinion, either price is a fine price for it!
If you’re one who cares to have the box then get that one.
Better yet, ask if they’ll take $46 usd for the boxed one and then it’s an even better deal.

Those are fair prices.

I am a chinese citizen in canada, may i have an invite?

how are you enjoying the “oreo”?

I’m actually not in the WeChat group. It is all spoken in Chinese (Mandarin, Cantonese, ?), and doing the translations was a bit tedious. But because of very strict WeChat authentication, I had a strange problem (first I was authenticated, but then I lost it). I had to give up. Contact @xiaozhenyang4444 about the group and he should be able to hook you up.

I would say to go for the $39 USD one, unless you enjoy having the packaging. The prices are about average market rate. It’s a very light pencil, if I remember correctly. The body is aluminum alloy (not stainless steel).
