Saw a lot of new plastic

Tombow and uni as usual milking it with the kurutoga and mono lineup…new and old.

For the first time I returned home with just the lead containers.

I hear you. The publicity shots of the MONO graph ‘Grey Scale’ series look amazing! But, I’ve got too many of them already.

I really wish I had retail stores in my area with decent pencil selections. Here in west Tennessee you will find mostly P200s and the low-end Zerba and BIC products.

I like the UNI metal lead container but I wish there were a way to indicate lead hardness on it.

There were a few more new mono series colours and not to mention the many Dr. grip variations.

I remember shopping a long long time ago in the USA in a wallmart near Rhode island. and yeah I ended up with a whole bunch of bics in my bag.

But trust me, you will run out of space if you keep buying all the new releases in the Japanese market. They continuously bombard you with limited stuff. It’s maybe a bit too much.

Not a problem for an all time HB user. Haha.

The Kinokuniya store near me has a very small writing instrument section. They just put out a special showcase dedicated to LAMY writing instruments, which I found a bit curious (would have expected a Japanese brand). I inquired about the Kuru Toga Dive and they said they’ve no indication of plans to carry it. Prices are not that great. Amazon.co.jp is better.

Each new Dive release is a reminder that I’m winning by not giving a damn about this bulky pencil :nail_care:t6::triumph:

Least favorite things in pencildom, ranked:

  1. Kuru Toga mechanism
  2. Bulbous, rounded executive-style pencils
  3. Multi-pens
  4. Automatic mechanisms

Ah… but is that a reseller ON Amazon.co.jp? Or is it Mitsubishi Pencil itself? Smells like a scalper to me.

Mitsubishi Pencil Co is actively selling other models on Amazon Japan. Like Twilight Orange, for ¥9200. I did not see the Aurora model listed.

It has become hard to tell who is the legit seller. Particularly, Amazon on Rakuten are flooded with resellers. Regarding the KT dive, ofcourse these are reseller who have priced it at 18000 yen.

It was said that the aurora will be a regular model, so I don’t see the necessity to feed resellers in a hurry.

It figures that there are scalpers trying to create an illusion of exclusivity or limited availability. They’ve been brutal out there. So much so, that Uniball Co’s shopping website was played by the inundation of devious buying tactics. They didn’t check on duplicate payment methods, addresses, emails, etc.

It looks like it’s going to get ugly out there. Similar to the previous releases many big stores are going to be giving out the lottery tickets and only the winners will have the chance to buy one unit each. This is the latest update.

Huge line leading upto the escalator for the kurutoga dive lottery at the local tokyu hands store inside the mall. Noticed some people bringing their entire family including kids to participate and increase chances of winning.
