If there’s one real regret I have, it’s not having picked up the steel black striped grip Uchida 2 mm holders before the latest collector wave hit. Such handsome designs.

Very thorough list, great resource for collectors. I’d also love to get a 840-5000 Drawing Holder, I assume it is a delightful piece of equipment.

I’m just afraid this comprehensive database might lack just a couple of items, pencil-wise:

• The Uchida Color Holder / Demonstrator (No. 845-0012), 2mm clutch pencil
• The Uchida Color Holder / Rugged Texture Barrel (missing number, sorry, but there is a picture here: Core holder UCHIDA color holder 12 colors core holder #1392 | eBay)
• The Uchida Art Holder “Dessin” (No. 845-1101), a 5.8mm clutch pencil — not very easy to find: after one remained listed for years on the now-inactive Andrey’s Pencils Ebay shop for an impressive price, one popped up a few days ago, on Ebay again, for a much more reasonable price

Besides those, there are three delightful versions of eraser holders, with three different mechanisms (clutch, twistaction, knock), which might even be repurposed as pencils if one finds the appropriate lead diameter for the cores — at least to my knowledge, the clutch-type eraser works perfectly with lead as well, whereas the other two types have much more strict tolerances, and may be more difficult to adjust to a specific lead size.

For reference: The box of my Uchida Drawing Sharp D came with a cardboard sleeve, and on the sticker on the side it reads “No. 1-848-0003”.

Perhaps they have reused a sleeve that was once used for a set of drawing accessories.

Uchida really hit a gorgeous colorway with this Drawing Sharp E series. I just wish they’d had a red one in the mix. There is a red KN version, but it’s a different grip design.

Maybe Lindsay Wilson can make a cool tribute design based on this… complete with a spiral-cut groove.
