Pilot S series: introduction date(s)?

Does anyone know when Pilot introduced the S3, S5, S10 and S20 pencils?

@Linus2K posted this a while back

I’m not clear what the “11” in “2000-11~” means but I am assuming that it means:

  • S3 came out in November 2000
  • S5 came out in August 2001
  • S10 came out in August 2001
  • S20 came out in March 2003
  • S30 came out in March 2021

When was yellow discontinued? 2023?

Wow, the s series has been around way longer than I thought. Does this mean the s20 came out while the vanishing point was still around?

Thank you! I wouldn’t have thought that the S3-S20 had been around for so long.

As far as I know, the end of production was announced at the beginning of 2023.

These were also labeled H-32X during the 00s. I don’t know when production began.

That’s right! And there were also opaque variants in that series which weren’t available as S3.

That’s the one—I’ve got a complete set of 'em.

S3 like-white internal tube, H-32x black.

By the way, there was (is?) also a brown H-325.

But still according to the ISO, 0.9 should be red, not this ocher-orange color.

I’ll never forgive the ISO for not making 0.5 red. It’s dead to me.

Hey what is the ISO standard that associates colors to lead sizes?

But ISO colors don’t mean much to the Japanese companies. The European companies followed this more closely.
