Pentel PS705 Rose Pencil Question

I am working on an update for the Pentel Pencil ID Book, and have a question for the masses.

(AFAIK) the above pencils are all PS705. I have pictures of the Corn and Wheat versions in a box of with the PS705 sleeve. I assume that the Rose version is also a PS705.

Looking at the pictures I have for these, I see both the Corn and Wheat with both versions of the triangle sticker (pre- and post-JIS). But I only have photos of the Rose with the pre-JIS sticker.

Does anyone have one of the Rose pencils with a post-JIS sticker?

According to my database I only have one with a triangle sticker. It is possible that I have some hiding out somewhere else that have not been cataloged but I seem to remember talking about these around '21 or '22. I could take a closer look after this weekend.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the model number on the rose one is not PS705. But then again, I don’t have anything to back this up.

Well, I have not answered my question about if the Rose PS705 was produced with the JIS Triangular sticker, but I have found proof that it is a PS705R. https://twitter.com/haruca_st/status/2034892969678098666

Does the box show the rose on the front?

No, just the standard PS705 box. Yellow box on the right.

Pentel had some great box designs back in the day. I wonder if there was any symbolism to the more abstract geometric patterns?

So, based on the box for the PS705… we may have a nickname for the model: ‘Design Mark’

I believe the abstract patterns was probably just to differentiate them and fill in some space.

I have 3 different pictures of this box saved, and never thought to try to translate it. I will be adding this to the Book.

I don’t know. Those two in the bottom right really speak to me, design-wise, compared to the rest. /s

Edit: this was meant to be sarcastic. The abstract design boxes are way better!

Nice, mystery solved. The boxes are key to figuring out some of the missing model numbers.

I have had pictures of the top of the boxes for a while, but never seen the Rose in one of them, nor the end with a sticker.
