Pentel Pop’npop

I have been trying to find out what Pop’npop is.

Other posts here mention that cartoon characters were involved with the branding, and it’s not associated with the video game.

I did find this information, but still have no idea what it is.

I came to the conclusion quite some time ago that “Pop’nPop” is merely a moniker adopted by Pentel, reflecting the “foreign branding” trend that swept through Japan in the 1980s. During that era, and well into the 1990s, Japanese brands frequently employed English to elevate an item’s perceived prestige. The focus was primarily on the aesthetic appeal rather than accurate translation.

Theres a Japanese grocery store near me and I couldnt resist refreshing my memory of Calpis.
