Pentel PD1055 Technica "Cockpit Type" Ads from Japan

In my last purchase from Japan, I picked up a couple of ads for the PD1055 Technica. I knew that it was designed like an airplane, having seen several pictures of it with a triangle under the clip, but in both Japanese ads, it had in big English letters “COCKPIT TYPE”.

One of the ads is a long ad (122mm by 422mm) and the other is a standard ad shape (258mm by 188mm) and double sided. Both scans have the the Japanese original in the front, and Google translated images after.

Thought it was interesting enough to share.

Here is another ad that I already had, but it is a photo of it. It does say Cockpit Type, but it is not as prominent.

These are up in the Pentel Catalogs directory under Ads, Instructions and Pamphlets.

Thank you for these! Fascinating to see Pentel’s ‘concept’ to appeal to young men… I’d say it worked better than Mitsubishi’s ‘Pecker’!
