Pentel P200 Family Book

I am contemplating putting together a Pentel P200 Family Book, similar to the Pentel Pencils ID Book, but more focused and digging into details and limited editions. To me, this would be easier to update than the blog. For example, I wrote my post on the Sliding Sleeve pencils (PS315 & PS523) in 2019, but a couple of years ago, I found a Gray PS315 that I previously did not know about. With the Book, it is just updating the article and a few page numbers, then reprinting the book.

First question: Would people think this is a worthwhile endevour?

If so, I have other questions about organization.
I plan to split this into 3 sections:
Section 1: Base P200 pencils, including the P210, P320, P533, PF330, PF500, PS315 & PS523.
Section 2: Limited Editions and Other Colors - All of the Limited Editions out of Japan and Europe, plus the Brazil colors.
Section 3: Articles - I would rewrite the articles from the website, plus a couple more that did not make it there.

For Section 1, I plan to do a page per Generation of each pencil (P203 with Generations 4, 4.5, 6; P205 with Generations: 1, 1b, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6; etc.)
This would be about 63 pages, and allow me to go into a little more detail on them.

For Section 2, since they are all Generation 6, I plan to do them in groups by Color Code. I thought about putting them in order by Release Date, but decided to do they by Color Code order with a page (or two) at the front of the section with the Release Dates.

What do you guys think?

I love this idea. I would love to see it come to life. I’ve always thought that you could create a coffee table type book for Pentel pencils from the 60s and 70s and maybe a little bit of the 80s. Think about the coffee table books you can get from places like Barnes & Noble that are about cars, like the vintage Mustang, or guitars or other collectibles where it’s great history and articles and crisp photography, etc.

Definitely! Please make this happen!

Seriously, I have thought about that, but too many of my photos are just grabbed from the web.

If I could get photos from people who I could attribute and who gave me permission, I would think about that.

I love it!
I’d buy a coffee table book too!

Actually after looking at it, Section 2 would be by Series, with a list at front by date order, then by individual part number to Series.

Right now, I have about 55 Series with anywhere from 2 to 20 in the series.

I would probably print it out and sleep with it under my pillow. I also think a book would be the perfect way to present the information.

Is the eleven not included in this family?
I’m always scrolling through the current file to get to the elevens and the p20x info.

I would 100% buy this

No, the Pentel 11 came out in 1967. The first P205 came out in 1970.

I am looking for the following pencils to get photos of for the Pentel P200 Family Book, that I do not own.
P329 Black (preferably with sticker)
PF505 For Film
PF507 For Film
PF509 For Film

Do you have the Black 327?

Is this the 329 you want or the one we talked about with the writing in the middle?

Yes, that is the one I am looking for. I do have several black P327, although I don’t believe I have a Black P327 with the text on the side.

Could you take a separate photo of each of these on a white background, like I have in the Pentel ID Book? I would like to use them in the Pentel P200 Family Book and would credit them to you.

Ok, I’ll do my best

How many variants to the P200 have there been? By variant I’m not really addressing colorways, but more like tips (sliding, partial sliding, Graph Rock, etc.), labeling (like Delfonics, etc.), special models like the “For Film” series, etc.

there has to be dozens I would think.
