Pentel <Hi-Polymer For Professional> Collection

Products labeled ‘FOR PROFESSIONAL’ rather than ‘FOR PRO’ are referred to as “Export models”. Both are officially released products from Pentel, and the product codes are the same as CS33 and CS55. Products with the ‘FOR PRO’ labeled products sold exclusively in Japan before.

The officially released lead grades are as follows.

0.5mm (7 types): 4H / 3H / 2H / H / HB / B / 2B
0.3mm (6 types): 4H / 3H / 2H / H / HB / B

To dates, all 0.3mm lead grades except ‘0.3mm HB’ and the 0.5mm 4H and 2B grades have not been found. Since no actual photos exist, their existence is currently only inferred theoretically based on catalogs.

I will first share the “Export Model” I collected. I hope this encourages owners of the to share photos, thereby adding more information.

do you know when these were sold? (worldwide?)

First, we can see from the Pentel catalog that it was sold between 1996 and 1997. To analyze the sales period, we need more information and more data, but we currently lack sufficient details to clearly determine the exact period of its availability. The method I choose to uncover this was to join communities like ‘Knockology’ and ‘Reddit’ and interact with people from various countries. This is because I sourced this product from places like France, Canada, the US, and Germany. However, I was extremely surprised because no one knew about this ‘Hi-Polymer For Professional’—Pentel’s highest-priced premium mechanical pencil lead ever in history. It was definitely sold in places like America and Europe, yet not a single person came forward who knew about it… This is truly disappointing and frustrating for me. I hope this was helpful. If you happen to come across any related information, please be sure to contact me.

Damdeok (a Korean collector) sent these to me as a gift, I believe they still contained the original lead when he sent it. Definitely the best lead I’ve ever used.

Thank you for sharing the photo. Pentel CS55 export model actually comes in ‘new’ and ‘old’ versions, and your 0.5mm B is the ‘new’ one. If you happen to see a 0.5 4H or 0.5 2B, please let me know.

Additionally, your 0.3mm B is a Japanese domestic model whose sales period analysis has already been completed. Therefore, the 0.3mm B you have was sold between June 1990 and October 1996. I am an expert and have already completed all analysis on Japanese domestic models, so I am certain of this.

What started your journey of collecting FOR PRO lead? Where did you first find it and use it? How did you find more?

I started to collect 9 months ago. I found it in France, Germany, USA and Canada by secondhand with Paypal or other platform.

How did you notice it and decide to collect it? I have never seen it before your posts.

After acquiring all the mechanical pencils I wanted to try, I found the one that suited me best. Then, while searching for the perfect lead to match it, I discovered the CS55. After trying it once, I was so satisfied that I started collecting them. At some point, I had accumulated so many that I began analyzing my collection. And I joined here two days ago.

That is cool. Perfect lead for your favorite pencil. Someday I may follow that path.

If you find 0.5mm 2B or 0.5mm 4H, please contact. Then I will give you 0.5mm B directly.

I do like that the colors of the lead size do match the Graph 1000 pencils (Brown for 0.3, Green for 0.4 and White for 0.5mm).

Thank for your comment. One of the reasons I collect these is because of the unique lead container designs. If you happen to find these products with 0.5mm 2B and 4H, I will give you a special gift. please contact
