I believe it is called Sakura Sharp XPS-405 — found one in Milan by chance, that arrow in the back metal part and the plastic finish seem impossible to confuse with those from other pencils — and mine came with a clearing pin and a box sporting that name.

Koh-I-noor 5626 somehow fits in the range, too. Maybe it’s even the origin?

Fantastic! Do you still have the box for a photo?

Sure! I rushed to the stash of boxes to shoot these three (the name pops out better in the last picture).

Hope it helps!

I still haven’t picked up a Junior hard3. You’ve reminded me of that desire. Thanks.

You’re right, there’s a possibility Pentel was inspired by the 5626. Do you know when the 5626 came out? Pre-1965?

Unfortunately I have no idea. I see a chance, that it appeared quite early because of the 0.9mm lead.

But I have a photo

BTW The lead advance of them is too large (at least I feel so), I would push the lead partly back after “knocking”.

Ah! From when KIN was still split…
