That GG500 is amazing!!

What is the difference in the 1000 for pro? Only the cap without the white ring?

Nice! Did the source include a release date or distribution channel?

This year is Pentel’s 60th anniversary!? Well, there are only six months left until @Thomas’ prediction about the Quicker Clicker reissue comes true -or not (he’s been waiting for it for years).

But I think the anniversary is next year, it was founded in 1946.

Sorry for being off-topic. I’d love to get that 3 pencils box set.

2027 is the rerelease of the original PD345

That would be cool

I received the product info email just before boarding my flight, so my introduction was a bit rough (Lufthansa’s in-flight Wi-Fi is paid ).
There wasn’t any info about the release date — the only thing mentioned was that, due to the small production quantity, each stationery store will likely get a limited allocation.

According to the announcement, Pentel released its first mechanical pencil for drafting, the ā€œGraph Pencil,ā€ in 1965. Since then, it has continued to be loved not only by professionals in the drafting field but also by artists, students, and many others. In 2025, Pentel’s drafting mechanical pencils will celebrate their 60th anniversary, and to commemorate this milestone, a special limited-edition model will be released.

That black GG500 is going to be very popular!

It’s baffling really…. Make your MP black, make a new ā€œdesignā€ā€¦. GOLD$$$…. It has become the new standard. …. I’m not complaining, just surprised by the unoriginality.

Why nothing NEW….? The Dive is the closest, which only ruined collectors’ opinion off a MASS
Producer, it also showed how shallow and meaningless enthusiasts actually are….

A huge bummer (in short)

I think the selection of these three is indeed a big bummer. They have others in their current lineup that I would rather see highlighted. What about PG5 fully blacked out? AT, QC, P200?

I think so too. I find the black Graph 1000 for Pro particularly unimaginative as it is almost identical to the standard one, except for the coloured ring at the hardness indicator. What about a variant with a black metal grip, just like the orenz Metal? And why no black clip and cap on the GraphGear 1000?

QC and AT are off-theme as this is for the 60th anniversary of Pentel drafting pencils?

Anyone feel that Pentel missed a real opportunity by not making the focus on a special edition of the PG5 instead??? Gold-plated cone, clip and lead degree display + blacked out rear flange… sigh.

I wanted to reply to both @drifand and @amjacobs7 because the statement of the latter and the question of the former both apply to my response.
I also am HIGHLY disappointed in ALL three options.
If I were to purchase this it would be 100% to resell it.
I LOVE the all black idea but, as stated, these models?
Also, why couldn’t they figure out a way to powder coat the ugly silver lead tube? All black doesn’t mean 98% black.
It’s a special anniversary edition, it’s like decorating for a special party of some sort and adorning everything with balloons and whatever you desire but deciding to leave the tables without table cloths.
Sure, most of the place looks great but something is definitely missing.
And finally, why doesn’t anyone talk about the stupid clip on the 1000?

The GG500 looks amazing in black, but I don’t see a difference for the Graph 1000 for pro lol. The Graphgear 1000 looks good in black. I had no idea that GG500 came out in 2001 and the 1000 in 2002.

The PG5 is the only one that would fit. This is the 60th Anniversary of their original Graph pencil from 1965.

The QC, P200 have nothing to do with this anniversary.

If they chose matte black then everything had to be black, including the lettering, sleeve and storage tube.

They could have simply reissued their Pentel Graph — but it was already in black, so no further ā€œblacken-ingā€ would have been possible — maybe with a tiny accent or a commemorative package, and I think many aficionados would have bought the stock in matters of minutes.

OR… They could have reissued the Pentel QX. I’d buy a beaten up QX over all their inventory of stealth Graphs (sorry Graph, my bad, no hard feelings, it is not you, it is me). Maybe they are saving that for their 100th birthday: in that case, I only have to survive 40 more years (plus a couple more, to enjoy the item), while maintaining my collection, the brain, the money and the fingers to buy the thing while it is available on some future website…

Yes, you are right. Somehow I missed the ā€˜drafting’ focal point of this release.
