Pens and Pencils on my desk

Thanks! I see Ray posted about it 4 years ago, HERE. What a weird departure from the typical BOXY design language. I wonder how long this model was made. If you own one of them, what’s your impression?

The BOXY Milano is pretty neat. The internals remind me of the top quality put in for the Alessi Ares series. Here, I matched a silver Milano to a black Parafernalia Flirt, which also has a ‘roman column’ style. Eventually got a black as well, and a BP. The rare one is a grey model sporting a green ring near the tip instead of black.

Indeed! And somehow Wörther seems to have gone bust and LAMY carries on

Well… LAMY got UNIted with Mitsubishi…

Going to be very interesting to see how that turns out… if UNI leaves LAMY undisturbed or decides to meddle. Clearly LAMY has a certain formula that works for its primary target audiences. It’ll also be interesting to see if the Heidelberg HQ in Germany is left as-is. It’s a beautiful building in a very picturesque city.

Gorgeous!

Wow. Nice toll gates!

Just wish Lamy improves the Pico, I’d like to get a mini pen like that one. I picked one up the other day and was somewhat disappointed. It didn’t feel as compact and essential as I had hoped. But Lamy hardly ever redesigns, right? They just move along and make a new model.

Or they make small changes, like:

  • Squaring off the clip on the Tipo
  • Lengthening the clip on the Vivo
  • Changing first the color of the plastic clip on the Balloon, and now giving it a Safari style wire clip… which makes it less interesting

I have one PICO that I bought about 8 years ago. I found it more of a novelty than useful. When extended, the inner plastic tubing felt a bit cheap. I don’t know if they’ve improved it at all over the years. Some of the latest colors look interesting. I like that off-white version. You can sometimes find them as cheap as $30 USD. Kinokuniya has them for a whopping $49 USD!

Exactly. I don’t think they changed anything. I wonder if the chrome ones are plastic or metal, though… i picked up a black one. I usually go for the more mainstream ones.

That white one looks really nice.

I have the chromed version. The black parts are plastic…

Omg, I had no idea about the headquarters location, my sister lives there! I visited city multiple times in 2018.

That Mitsu is one heck of a pencil. Sold mine too cheap… :man_facepalming:

Today: A Zebra Tect 0.3.

Since it is very similar to the Tect 2way but lacks the shaker feature I’d like to call it Tect 1way :smirk:

By the way, does anyone know how old this Tect is?

Tect MA43 0.5mm was launched 2011, meaning it came out a couple years AFTER the Tect 2way in 2007. Based on their naming convention, 0.3 could be a MAS-43. I actually bought a couple of Tect (1way) from China’s Taobao e-mall right around 2015(?) and was wondering at that time if it was the predecessor of the 2way that had been obsoleted and somehow was still sold in China.

Thank you for these details! So the Tect 1way was obviously an inexpensive alternative to the Tect 2way. – Unfortunately the sticker was severely damaged so I have removed it.
