Pens and Pencils on my desk

Honestly it might, but for a thousand yen you get the metal pen plus all the branding. Honestly not a bad deal?

I think you can get something that looks somewhat similar, the Zebra bLen. It has some good tech built in and is quite affordable. The rattle of the button is a bit annoying for a “noise-free” pen. Plus, the zebra proprietary refills can be a killer if you don’t like the ink. Personally I think it’s solid still but your mileage may vary.

I think of all the wide-mouth double-knock plastic ‘gripper’ style pencils, the OHTO is the most attractive. Especially in red!

Granted, a Y&C version of the Ohto Grip500 was my pencil throughout high school…

But I still think that style of double-knock is one of the most iconic pencils of all time.

I particularly like the smoke-tinted collar on the front end that contrasts the black grip and the metal tip structure that seats inside it.

I first read about the Dyson Biro on the Clicky Post.

It is very much an in-house design flex to create a tool in their industrial style.

The pen itself is not a rebadge, it’s actually quite interesting the tip retraction is by simply pulling up the knock clip which happens very easily. Don’t know if the colour coat on the painted ones will last if used regularly. I have bought a few no-colour ones as well as the signature purple and blue. I have seen YouTube channel unsharpen do a feature on the product.

And yes I have heard in the recent years they have lost their way in terms of innovation and value for money products. Also worth mentioning the ‘Dyson car’ which was a 3 billon research project which did not produce any outcome.

The most ridiculous product they have produced thus far however In my opinion is the mask-headphones. Seriously don’t see the market or appeal in this one. Particularly from the cost point of view.

Ah, nice—under ¥3000 (with sticker) is the best price anyone will ever see on that piece again. I almost opened a new proxy just to get it, but I spent ¥70,000 on a lot earlier in the year that included 3 copper double-knocks.

That’s how badly I wanted that piece :joy:

This looks like an interesting piece… Could you elaborate a bit more on this pencil, @Raybonche? What is rotating exactly, here? Is it a mechanism like the one in the uni Kuru Toga’s? Is there a knock pushbutton, or a rotating cap like in some Uchida’s?

Also, is there a link to an e-shop where I can know more about this item?

PS: the lead container disguised as a bolt is amazing…
