Pencil visible display & storage ideas

Always nice to have things visible and grab-able… thought I’d share- this we often get sent kind bottled gifts from people and often they come in these bubble jackets that are really excellent for storing, displaying and protecting pencils…

I have so many questions regarding items no. 2, 3, 6 (which model of Fixpencil is that?), 11-12, 15, 16…

I wouldn’t call this grab-able, fishing pens out of the individual small bags would be too bothersome for me  But it’s neat packagig for shipment I agree

This was my thought as well.

This is how I have mine on display, when I am not taking a picture of them, they have a sheet of plexiglass over the top and bottom to keep dust out.

This is an old picture. Much more cases now.

Another display thought…sorry about the glare off of some of the plastic covers…not an issue straight -on…took them off for the last pic

@lsd300 - What a fantastically unique, creative and original use of space!

Probably my favourite display ever. Amazing! :fire:

Ok… so; 2 is an Admel 2mm twist lock, with anice heavy lucite/plexiglass barrel. 3 is a heavily chromed unmarked 2mm twist lock. 6 is a fixpencil 8 automatic 1.18mm. 11 & 12 are L&C Hardtmuths very early (maybe the first ever?) Attempt at a ‘side knock’ (1890s.. see thegoodphite insta for a full description of those) ..15 is a Lyra tecnotac 2mm and 16 is a 2000s short koh i noor rebrand from a company called ‘Furst’

Wait, if yours is a Fixpencil VIII (i.e., 8), what is the difference with a Fixpencil IX (i.e. 9)?

[Caran d’Ache had this bold idea: instead of using complicated and long product codes, just attach very small numbers to the various models, say between 1 and 100, and squeeze all possible variations there: the difference between a Fixpencil 22 and a Fixpencil 24 is huge, whereas Steadtler or Faber-Castell, and even rOtring, can produce almost endless variations with slightly similar model numbers…]

The IX is for 2mm lead, the VIII is 1.18mm. Ive got a list of all the numbers ive seen and images in a little folder somewhere!

I saw, I saw… And I was speechless. How many pencils I now need are just too many?

Also, how did you find all those hyper-rare and hyper-specialised items? Pen shows? Auction houses? Trusted hunters unleashed all over Europe? I mean, I monitor many platforms, but the variety and quality on your collection is way out of my league (and I just spotted a portion of your inventory).

Very, very, very well done…

Ah, most kind! I think it’s not so much where to find them as when- and by when, I mean most days, for over 15 years now, looking, trading, buying and selling. I much prefer antique and junk markets, real world shows and similar, but online also, of course, mainly.
