Parafernalia in chrome and black

I finally found some time to take apart one of my Revolution pencils and transplanted its guts into my chrome finish ballpoint. The process is simple but requires patience and a steady hand to hold the fiddly tubes, connecting rods and spacers in place while manoeuvring a tiny screwdriver.

Afterwards I decided to take a group shot of my other chromed finish Parafernalia models, and just for fun, rearranged the pattern of the grip rings on the Graphic ballpoint. All were designed by Sergio Carpani… L-R:

• Helite BP (1979) - this design was adopted/licensed by Platinum for ixi:z
• Linea 2.0mm lead holder (1975) - the matte grey version was seen in the movie ALIEN
• N.2110 BP (1980) - a refinement of the very first Parafernalia pen, the slightly clunky AL 13, and was subsequently produced as the AL 115 from 2011 onwards.
• Revolution MP 0.5mm (1978) - probably the best known design out of Parafernalia, inspired by the architecture of the Pompidou Center.
• Graphic BP (1979) - also apparently licensed by Platinum for ixi:z, according to catalog scans. The grip is made up of 15 separate metal rings in alternating colors and can be rearranged as preferred.

Great photos and wonderful pencils. Did you filter the photo to black and white?

The Graphic ballpoint is very cool. I like the rearrangeable grip rings. Do they screw into each other?

These shots are lit naturally by afternoon sunlight on my desk, so the default color balance is always a bit warm. There are also some colorful objects nearby that sometimes show up in reflections. So, for me, the first step after cropping is always tweaking the white balance, and de-saturating wayward reflections

The grip rings on the Graphic are ‘loose’, although they are pretty close-fitting. The nose cone holds them in place.
