Best pencils to get into lead holders? Must buy for beginners?

@nezoomer A lot will depend on your personal taste and preferences. There is such a broad range covering many years so unless you narrow your focus you might try to collect one of everything you see.

In terms of value and investment I feel you’d be best focusing on pre 2000 and probably pre 1980 approximatey. If you just want lots of different leadholders then newer models woud be easier and cheaper but less of an investment. And probably less character.

You could choose to collect vintage wood barrelled leadholders and/or twist-locks but good ones will be harder and dearer to find. Push button clutch types will be most common and some like A W Faber Hardtmuth ad Fugle Leadlok are very collectable.
