Name that PENCIL or PEN [10]

The only reason I guessed that was because of the flared grip. It seems to be an option on a few I’ve seen.
I’m glad I wasn’t right though.
@Leonov Eolo, you keep saying you’re old and this and that but yet, though you say you’d have guessed sooner and with the actual name, you’re guesser is still pretty on point.
@Alan makes me wish I would’ve put my name (Allen) as my screen name because he continues to associate the name with really insightful, significant contributions.

This is a HEXA mecha-pencil ad that was introduced in a Korean stationery magazine(“문구유통”) in 1994. In addition to the model shown in this ad, there are HEXA mecha-pencil models that cost 1,000 won and 10,000 won.

So the snake was an upgrade option - I’d kind of hoped it came as standard!

I was expecting 10,000 won to be a fortune, but it seems to be about a fiver in British money.

Haha, thanks! If it’s any consolation, I get called Allen half the time anyway…

Me too the opposite. Bane of our existence!

Welcome to the club

Thank you for these details! I didn’t know that this pencil is already 30 years old (I bought it about 15 years ago).

How does this part work?

There is a very slight pronunciation difference (“an” vs. “en”) but I wonder if one or two "L"s make a difference. My middle name is Allan.

I would be interested to know of there even is a difference in pronunciation between any variation. I’d think all versions are pronounced Al-ehn
I loathe the name “Al” though almost everyone says it. (Nothing against Paul Simon)
But I was always of the understanding that “Alan” is a first name.
“Allen” is a middle name.
Allen is my middle name.

I can’t speak to where Allan fits.

I was almost Alun, which is the Welsh spelling (at least that would have meant that people got my name wrong 100% of the time, rather than just 50%).

If you screw the grip counterclockwise (as seen from the tip) it moves forwards, i. e. covers the lead sleeve (like with the Platinum 241 and 171 and the OHTO MS-01). The plastic bellows is supposed to expand to close the gap, but mine doesn’t do this properly, perhaps because it is too old and has remained in a compressed state for too long.

A blinged out, snake clipped drafting pencil wasn’t a thing I thought I wanted to see today, but I’m glad I did. Now I’m trying to picture the person who would unironically wield it and they’re looking pretty slick.

Screw the grip and barrel in the opposite direction. It’s a simple structure
