My Pulsar Polycarbonate has arrived!

Although I’m not typically a fan of bolt-action mechanical pencils often seen in the EDC community, my obsession with clear/transparent writing tools has drawn me to some unique pieces. The Namisu Horizon Petrol Frosted is exceptionally cool, which inspired me to add the Pulsar Polycarbonate to my collection. Yes, it comes with the less-than-exciting Schmidt DSM 2007 mechanism, but I’ve decided to not avoid this mechanism at all cost anymore.

Surprisingly, I’m digging this piece even more than I thought. I figured I wouldn’t be able to get over the bolt-action and the mechanism.

This piece echoes my recent appreciation for the Venvstas Designer-8, which deviates significantly from the traditional drafting and engineering-style instruments, as well as the Pentel pieces I usually gravitate towards.

This new addition is destined for a spot on the cleaner side of my studio.

Loving the play of light and translucency! How hard is the spring for the thumb actuator?

It’s not too stiff but not too loose. As a point of illustration, I can knock it with my pinky.
