Multipencils with 0.9mm lead

I recently came across this listing for a “Platinum Double Action 5 & 9”:

I was aware of a few multipencils of the 3/5/7 kind (Rotring made one, there are a few others) but it’s the first time I see a 0.9 mm component in a multipen/pencil. Do you know more about this model? Are there others or is this a unique experiment by Platinum?

Pentel made the Function 359R (F•359R PC1002) and 599R (F•599 PC1003). The F•359R and F•599R have 0.9mm red lead. 0.9mm regular lead in the 599R as well.

Thanks for the information, I had never heard of those. Can you take a picture of the 0.9 mm component or is the packaging still sealed?

Besides the well-known models from rOtring, there was at least a three-pencil-tips model by the Italian company “Tecnostyl”, but I suspect the OEM behind it is some other company. Still, the Tecnostyl three-tips MP only had 0.3, 0.5 and 0.7mm tips.

I find it funny that the Pentel model, once the decision of having a 0.9mm tip was made, went on placing two 0.9mm tips in the same barrel. This could be an example for a dictionary, under the definition of what “overkill” is.

Do you have images of the Technostyl? Internet searches in different languages don’t work for me

I have more than that: I know where to find a currently active listing for that piece (it’s just too expensive for my taste). Sending DM…

Still, I wouldn’t mind the images.

At your service. Straight out of the listing.

I have some of these multi-purpose pen/pencil and I am planning to do more research on them before I list them later on. I plan to sell them all (one-by-one). These are not my type of writing instruments. I prefer the Autopoint mechanical pencils for my everyday writing. Also the technology for switching between pen and pencil in these multi-purpose pens really bothers me. But my loss is somebody else’s gain!

I am surprised they did not offer a 579.
