Quick question: I’m considering buying a (well worn) Metaphys Locus 3-way with the intent to use it. If someone here has one, can you tell me if the Tombow Mono Zero round eraser refills will fit?
The 3-way is the only Locus model that I skipped so no first-hand experience here. But, you can find the eraser info on Jetpens. 2.3mm diameter. Seems an exact match for MONO Zero. I think you can even make out the plastic extension in Jetpen’s photo.
I checked both the 3 Waypen and Tombow’s MONO Zero since we had them in stock.
The eraser diameter is the same, but the lengths are different.
That’s not really a problem though — you can just cut the eraser.
The important thing is the thickness of the plastic core.
Thanks for your help. Even if the eraser doesn’t work as is it seems that exchanging the plastic stick should be feasible.
Another promising candidate is the Pilot Hi-Tec-C Coleto eraser refill. I’m trying to get my hands on one.
I know it’s been a while since your post, but I’m thinking of getting one and trying it out too. Thanks for the info!
I’m glad to report that the Pilot Coleto eraser refill (LHKRF-15ERF) is almost identical to the Metaphys refill (the stump seems to be about 1 mm shorter although this might be sample variation, with this degree of similarity it’s more likely that they are exactly the same product) and it works with the Locus 3way.

For what it’s worth, I now have a brand new 3 way in the box with all the accoutrements (uh-coo-treh-mints).
If you end up needing an eraser, I’ll give you mine.
Well, the first seller that I found when looking for the Pilot erasers offered a 5-pack so it will be a while before I run out of erasers.
One interesting tidbit: the plastic guide on the erasers is 0.5 mm wide (I’m guessing they use a standard lead clutch to propel the eraser) meaning that it can be used to clean lead jams (it isn’t as rigid as the usual metal rods but it seemed to work OK in my limited trials).
