The international shipping cost worked out to around 7 dollars per person - that will be bolted on to your domestic shipping cost once Thomas gets his grubby paws on the package States-side.
Excellent - thanks for the update, Stu! Very much looking forward to these Manufactum pencils. And of course, thanks to @Thomas for being the stateside coordinator!
Most orders have been packed up and shipped out. Just a couple of addresses and payments I’m waiting for. Please check your DMs if I haven’t heard from you yet.
Here’s the one I got. Will probably take it down to the studio to give it a more matte/brushed finished. A weebit too polished for my liking, but I knew that going in. Great pencil! I love the sound when you unknock it. Such a great thump.
The deployment is so nicely smooth and lock-in is solid. No tip wobble.
If there’s just 1 thing I wish they’d achieved for perfection, it would be no tip movement when knocking. There’s a slight movement. It’s less than a rOtring 800… but still, if the BLICK PREMIER can do it (zero movement on knocking), why not Manufactum?
If I were to have any gripes about it, it would be the knurling could be a little more coarse, and the clip would’ve been better in a matte or satin finish (instead of chromed steel).
I wonder how long Blick has been making these. Would be curious to know if it’s considered a permanent staple, or if they’ll retire it at some point in the near future.
It wasn’t even on my Radar until Michael (Clutch Sutuation) added it to his top 15.
I was surprised (happily) by how well it is made. But yes - the grip is a bit lacking
Finally got home to a few packages. One was from Knockology – the Manufactum pencils.
I ordered 1 aluminum, and 2 black.
Yes, the aluminum is VERY light. But mine seems to be functioning fine. But unfortunately for the black? 50/50.
One of them functions perfectly.
The other one? It won’t deploy. I extend the tip and it just won’t lock into place. A little it of fiddling and I got it to hold ONCE. But that’s it. It keeps failing to lock.
I guess there’s no recourse with Manufactum on defects?
