Manufactum Druckbleistift: Video Review

I finally got around to making a video on the Druckbleistift - hearing me try to say “Druckbleistift” is worth the price of admission alone.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen, especially @Stu and @Thomas

It’s unlisted right now but you can get to it from the link - I’ll make it public tomorrow.

Please check if the Tikky internals fit the Manufactum.
Also, one headline in the start said Drückblwistift, W instead of e.

Thank you

I tried- they don’t fit.
I was hoping they would be interchangeable like the rOtring Side Knock and the Windom

You saved me - my thumbnail was also wrong. All corrected. Thank you again

I wonder if Manufactum still stuffs that humongous printed catalog with every order. It really jacked up my proxy shipping costs!! :joy:

Also, the Luddite Postdraw seems very similarly built, do you have one to compare with the Manufactum?

I do - I’ll give that a look after work

Now I feel stupid. What is the difference between a Esprit and a metal Tikky?

I cover this a bit in my Tikky video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VblKtk8k9uE

The Double Push, rOtring 400 and Esprit and all in the middle of the graphic above - to give you an idea when they were sold.

Basically, the Metal Double push and the 400 are almost the same pencil (one says 400) and has a few minor changes. The Esprit came later. Again – almost the same/similar pencil but the Esprit came in a lot of sizes and colors.
The Tikky video has chapters so you can jump right to the pencils.

I took my Luddite Postdraw apart and it really looks like what you show in the video.

I’m pretty sure that the internals are the same, I’m still wondering if it is possible to swap the grips/nose cones.

@metal_punching_grip you are correct!
And I can’t believe I overlooked these when I was looking for other push button double knocks in my collection. I had them stored away, still in the box which is unlike me, and TBH I had forgotten about them.

The internals and grips (at the least) are interchangeable. I have to be at work early today and didn’t have much time, but I’ll put together a short video this weekend.

But hey! You may be solving the mystery of who really made these. In my research I saw a few posts where some people said they believe the manufactum was made in Japan.

Perhaps they were made by the same manufacturer?

On bottom is the manufactum internal in the postdraw (zoom in you can see the brass tip).

Top shows the black post draw on the manufactum brass

I own one of these. They’re a very good EDC pencil- I think they’re best compared to something like the Blick Premier or a Graphgear 1000, but beat out both in terms of writing experience and construction/design. Their limited availability is absolutely a pain though- wish a US retailer would pick them up.

From my knowledge I don’t believe Luddite makes its own mechanisms so both are likely manufactured by one of the major Japanese companies— I don’t recall the name of the “parent” manufacturer.

could it be Preco Japan?

That’s one good looking top heavy abomination!

Other way around feels way better though.

The different take on knurling is why I appreciate Luddite’s design approach…

Here’s an update that will go public on Monday.

Thank you @metal_punching_grip for the nudge to go look in my closet.
I had completely forgotten i had bought these. Maybe a sign of too many pencils lol?
